Changing an email address and name in Plesk 10

Changing an email address or account name is not something you will do that often. However, it is important to do it correctly so that you do not lose any of the existing emails on the account or any of the settings associated with it. But why would you change an email address in the first place? There are a couple reasons why you would want to change your own, or a staff members email account name which we will take a look at now.

Someone got married and changed their name

This is definitely the most popular reason why you would change your email account. If you or someone in your organization was recently wed and changed their last name, you will need to update the email account to reflect the change. This is especially true if your email accounts follow a firstname.lastname@ or firstinitial-lastname@ type format. In this case, you will need to change the email account while not losing any of their settings or saved emails.

You are receiving too much spam

This is another reason why you may want to change your account name. Hopefully your account never gets to the point that you cannot handle the amount of spam coming in, but if you are simply too frustrated and are not having any success with spam filters, changing your email account is certainly an option.
