ServerMania Releases Xeon Scalable Silver 4114 and Gold 5118 CPU Models
ServerMania, a leading provider of dedicated and cloud hosting, today announced the release of two new CPU models for its hosting clients – the Intel Xeon Silver 4114 and Xeon Gold 5118.
Intel’s Xeon Scalable Processors, codenamed Skylake, use a new Chipset known as Lewisberg. In addition to significant performance enhancements, these processors offer enhanced mesh architecture, built-in networking and fabric, and a new x86 instruction set developed specifically for high-performance computing environments. They have been touted as the most significant leap forward in server CPUs in over a decade.
As with the recently-announced W-Series Servers, ServerMania will offer the Xeon Silver 4114 and Gold 5118 with a choice of SATA, SSD, or NVME storage drives. The former will have 10 cores, 20 threads, and a frequency of 2.2 gHz. The latter will have 12 cores, 24 threads, and a frequency of 2.3 gHz.
Both options are intended as replacements for two of ServerMania’s legacy dedicated servers – the Dual E5-2630v4 and Dual E52650v4. Although the specs between the two are similar, the performance enhancements and tweaks present in the Xeon line make them far better-suited for high-demand, heavy-load computing tasks, per Kevin Blanchard, ServerMania CEO.
“The Intel Xeon Silver and Gold lines, much like the W-Series, are ideally-suited for the sort of high-intensity workload our clients frequently require,” explains Blanchard. “They are a significant step up from the legacy E5-2600 line, with more versatility, flexibility, and efficiency. We feel our clients both great and small will be incredibly satisfied with these new options.”
As with the W-Series, the Intel Xeon Scalable Series will be available both managed and unmanaged, with two tiers available in the former case. Essential is intended for clients who prefer to manage their own servers with technical support from ServerMania. The latter, Empowered, will see ServerMania’s engineers handle setup, security audits, patching, hardening, and more.
“We’ve always sought to provide the best services and infrastructure possible to our clients,” says Blanchard. “Offering the Xeon Scalable Series is a step forward in that regard. They’re cutting-edge in every sense of the word.”
“As always,” Blanchard continues, “ServerMania will accommodate any unique hardware or managed services requirements. We’re interested in enabling and empowering our clients – everything else is secondary.”

Happy Twenty-Fifth Birthday To Linux!
Twenty-five years ago this month, Linus Torvalds posted a message to the comp.os.minix newsgroup asking for ideas for a new project he’d been working on. The project — “just a hobby, won’t be big and professional like gnu” — was an operating system. At the time, it was unnamed, but, as I’m sure you all know, over the next quarter of a century, Linux popularized a new way of thinking about software development and became the seed that allowed thousands of businesses to flourish.
Upcoming cPanel License Changes
cPanel has recently announced another round of price increases for their licenses, on top of the restructured pricing from earlier this year. As a result, we have decided that we will no longer be offering cPanel licenses on new servers. Current ServerMania users with cPanel licenses will be able to continue their work as normal, but they will be informed about their (possible) monthly price increase in the upcoming weeks.
